Sometimes the little wins are all we get, but they're worth celebrating all the same

Violet

Posted on June 29, 2023August 9, 2024

“Hey. Vi. You wanna see my dick?”

Violet blinked at her laptop screen, before looking up at Saul, standing before her. She was laying on her side, across the sofa. Mercifully, the open computer blocked her view of Saul from the chest down as he waggled his hips back and forth. Violet’s mind raced, even as her voice responded drily, “Nah, Saul. Think I’m good.”

Saul was fifteen. Her older brother’s best friend. Violet was enthralled by him for solely that reason. That, and his cologne. But, he had a girlfriend. And a son, though not by choice. They were just in the back yard. What was Saul playing at? Was this another of her brother’s cruel jokes at her infatuation?

“C’mon. You know you wanna see it. Just a peek. It’s right here.” Saul gyrated his hips more roughly, gesturing with his hands.

“Nope. Thanks, though. I’m good.” Violet wasn’t going to fall for this one. Irate, she clattered out a rapid series of instant messages to her friends about this new jape.

Sighing heavily, Saul turned to leave, fiddling with his pants. At the edge of the room, he hesitated and turned back. “Vi… Hey, can I tell you something?”

Violet looked up from her screen again, eyes suddenly dark with concern. Was something wrong? If she could help, how could she turn him away? Maybe he was just clowning around out of stress? “Uh, yeah. ‘Sup?”

Saul approached the couch, prompting Violet to sit up. She tilted the laptop screen down, hiding her angry ranting, and looked into Saul’s deep, beautiful eyes with concern. The young man sat close to her, smelling fantastic. Violet found herself breathing deeper, favoring the moment. Her skin felt electric.

“There’s, uh… Well, there’s something I’ve been wanting to say to you.” He turned his torso to face Violet and leaned slightly toward the girl. “For a while. Well, maybe more something I’ve been wanting to do.”

Suddenly, he was on her. Leaning forward, mashing his open mouth against her lips, Saul pressed Violet back against the pile of pillows on the couch, his broad tongue smearing wet across her mouth.

Violet tensed sharply, freezing up in shock and fear for a long moment. Then, her vision went white. Static crackled softly in her ears. She began to float, in her mind, feeling nothing.

Her body responded to Saul automatically, mimicking his slimy, licking kiss. Seconds dragged by. Saul broke away, not so much as glancing at his friend’s little sister. He brushed his hand roughly across his mouth and left the room. Moments later, the screen door scraped open and shut, letting the man out into the yard with his girlfriend and child.

Violet floated. Saul’s saliva dried on her face. Slowly, screaming overcame the static in her ears. Her mind was screeching in rapid panic, clawing at anything it could reach. A breath later, Violet came back to earth and the screaming died away. Calmly, she opened up her laptop and returned to her friends to explain away the momentary lapse in communication.
